Tangerines and oranges is believed to bring good luck and fortune.The Chinese for orange (and tangerine) is 橙 (chéng /chnng/), which sounds the same as the Chinese for ‘success’ (成). One of the ways of writing tangerine (桔 jú /jyoo/) and contains luck (吉 jí /jee/).

Did you know that paper was invented in China way back in the Han Dynasty by a Eunuch called Cai Lun 蔡伦.

Chinese paper lanterns or Dēnglóng in Chinese are made with thin brightly coloured paper glued onto and over a frame of thin strips of bamboo or wood, often with a candle or now a days a led light. these can be formed into a variety of diffrent shapes and sizes and were used as a form of street lighting way back in the Han Dynasty some 2,000 years ago.

The lighting of paper lanterns has become a traditional part of Chinese celebrations of all kinds.

Old or damaged clothes

If kids especially wear damaged or old clothes in the first lunar month, it is said to bring bad luck. and away you want to look your best for the new year.
